What is skiing insurance?
Skiing insurance provides customers who go to a ski resort with specialised travel insurance, and offers everything you would expect from a travel insurance policy, but without the long list of exceptions you usually find under winter sports cover. Whilst a standard travel insurance policy is designed to cover anyone going abroad for near enough any purpose, skiing insurance was developed by skiers and snowboarders with winter sports in mind, and has been designed to cover everything that could go wrong on your winter sports trip.
When you look through the exceptions section of a standard travel insurance policy, you will notice that the exceptions page will include a list of winter sports does not covers, with nearly all forms of off piste skiing, and sometimes skiing in general not covered at all by the cover. Skiing insurance understands that people do venture off piste, and that it is perfectly safe in designated areas, or in the hands of a guide.
As well as offering everything you would get from a travel insurance policy, skiing insurance will also cover you lift pass, which will have cost you several hundred pounds, and is usually not replaced if you lose one, as well as offering you additional protection for your ski equipment, both in transit to and from the resort, but when you are at the resort. That means if your skis are stolen from your chalet, or the locker room, you will be insured for replacement skis or boots.
Travel insurance policies most important feature is the health insurance they offer you, and skiing insurance is no different. Customers going to a ski resort are several times more likely to get injured, or to be involved in an accident that a customer going on a city break, or a beach holiday because of the nature of activities undertaken. Skiing and snowboarding involves hurtling down slippery surfaces at high speed with little more for protection that a woolly hat and a pair of goggles.
Your skiing insurance will give you additional medical bills insurance to acknowledge the fact that you may get severely injured, and need a high level of medical bills cover. Skiing is great fun, but can be dangerous, but with the right level of skiing insurance, you can enjoy your trip, safe in the knowledge that if anything does go wrong, you will be fully insured.
